About us
Orc Webhosting has been founded by Zoltan Orc, who has over three years of experience working in the IT support department of a Swiss bank, rebuilt and managed the RavenGames Network between 2001 and 2003 (a network of websites which during this time served up to a million pageviews monthly), built and managed dozens of websites. Having been customers ourselves to a number of webhosting providers in different countries, we have a first-hand understanding and experience of what webhosting customers really want and need. Our business is built upon the principle of providing a personalized service to our customers which they aren't likely to get from large enterprises.
We are located in the LiquidWeb datacenter, which features direct connectivity to Tier 1 premium bandwidth providers (MCI/UUnet, Savvis/Cable & Wireless and NTT/Verio) through an SBC OC-48 diverse path fiber optic sonet ring, a fully redundant network, a power failure protection consisting of UPS and Diesel Generator and is fully staffed and monitored 24/7.
Our software environment is based upon the GNU/Linux operating system and Linux/Unix software like Apache, PHP or MySQL, software which was developed from the beginning for a multi-user multi-computer networked environment like the Internet and is used on the majority of the servers in the World Wide Web.
